It's Almost August
July 29, 2008
I tend to run slightly behind the curve when it comes to updating online profiles and whatnot but I've finally caught up with an updated LinkedIn profile and a brand new Behance profile which, I have to say, is a pretty incredible networking tool.
New Work: Headphones
July 17, 2008
I watched "After the Sunset" and "American History X" while making this image which popped in my head on the subway on the way home from work last night. I'm excited to actually print these up, something I've never done before. I will be offereing these for sale soon so contact me if you're interested.
Also, not to forget, my interview with Kareem Black got some press on The KDU earlier this week which was incredible. Hell yeah.
HIFI is Live!
July 8, 2008
I was up until after 1am last night putting the finishing touches on the relaunch of my art / music / culture blog HIFI Live which accompanies the parties that I throw with DJs Clockwork, Magoo and Schoolboy. All I have to say is that Wordpress is amazing. Check it out.
3 Day Weekends
July 5, 2008
So last night was the 4th of July. I took some great pics of my friends and party I went to later on with my partners Clockwork and Schoolboy. I had some extra hours between re-watching American Gangster and the history channel to do some new personal work which I'm pretty excited about. I've never done anything quite like this and I hope to keep pushing it forward.
Er... Lindsay Apatow?
July 2, 2008
Lindsay Apatow and I have been friends for over two years now and I've never met her before. She found me over myspace somehow and asked to do some artwork for her and we've been chat buddies ever since. She's the most tenacious 18 year old I've never met and over the past two years has been putting together a portfolio of photography. She asked me to design her site, The Midnite Society, which just launched last night. Nikola Tamindzic already took notice of it and post a nice comment on his facebook profile.
Once Again...
July 1, 2008
It's no secret that I like to redesign my site about once every three and a half hours. I don't mean to do so but I guess that I'm slave to inconsistency. As an artists I need to try new things. I need to constantly reinvent myself with a new outlook and a new persona. I can't promise this is the last website that I'll ever design, or even that by the time I send this to you it will still be live. I will promise that I will continue to explore new artistic and creative territory and continue to push myself beyond my limits.

This image popped in my head on the way home from work last night. My intention was to have a beer and work on the under-painting of the design but finish it later on in the week. 3 drinks and 2 movies later I pretty much finished it. It's amazing how time flies by when you're in Photoshop.

I took this photoset earlier this year of ex-Burning Angel Apathy which you can view here. I never really intended on doing much more with the pics but I guess that's why we have hard drives.

Amanda asked me to do some headshots for her. I hate headshots. We had a hard time agreeing on the artistic direction for this project and I'm pretty sure that her and her boyfriend hated the pictures I took. I don't care though, I love them.

This was more of an exercise than anything. I asked Nikola Tamindiz to use some of his photography in a collaboration and found graphic inspiration from this Italian designer. I was intrigued by his technique and wanted to pull it apart and see what I could do with it.

These are some original art directions for a very high-end tequila. The client was very responsive to all three directions and the site will be live very soon. Unfortunately, I still have not tasted the actual tequila.

Quickly-rising NYC-Washington DC band Hello Tokyo asked me to do a quick, impromptu photo shoot for them. We met down in Dumbo early on a Saturday morning and blasted some music and shot for three hours. You can see the shots on their site.

This project is what I like to refer to as a Fire Drill. You know when a client engages you on a Friday night at 5:37pm and asks to have concept art for Monday morning and you have to cancel your weekend plans to go upstate and visit your parents? Yep, a Fire Drill.

One of my various attempts at devloping an idenity for a freelance studio was called DS80 which stood for "Design Star 1980" (the year I was born). Apparently, at the time, I identified largely with rockstars, boozing and living life by the minute.

DJs CLOCKWORK and MAGOO and myself joined forces earlier this year to put together monthly parties around NYC where we controlled the music, vibe and every other aspect of the party. These are a few photos from our last party at 205 Club on the Lower East Side.

CLOCKWORK (Andrew Klein) and his business partner, Andrew Merlino, asked me to design their corporate website for their hi-end parties they work for NYC's rich and famous. I elisted the help of the super-talented flash-guru, Sam Broe, to help build out the flash portion of the site.

NYC-based DJ Clockwork asked me to design some business cards. Not having a done a print assignment in a while I jumped on this and spent several hours compositing different illustrations. Out of several directions I produced it came down to these two designs.

These were my original photoshop composites for the website for the movie Pathology. Both are completely fabricated images from various assets. I still haven't seen that movie.

This was a fun microsite designed for ESPN Deportes. I designed the initial concepts and a lot of talented designers and programmers came together to make this site work. Great project to be involved in.

I was pulled on to concept out the artwork for the landing page of the online game for the movie "Hot Fuzz". The game was a first-person, Doom-esque kind of shoot-em-up thing which was actually kind of fun. Well, I guess and game where you shoot zombies is, by default, a blast.

I am not a gamer. I've played Grand Theft Auto for about 30 seconds until my ADD kicked in with the fury of a thousand suns and I had to go do something else. Being attached at the hip to my computer, you'd think I'd like to play games. But I don't. Weird.

This was the first full website I was put in charge of during my tenure at Special Ops Media and it was a disaster. These are my original concepts for the site but once I saw the movie (which is downright horrible) I shifted my aesthetic focus and essentially lost any and all direction. The site was built and was a marginal success but I'm still sweating from the experience.

These were comps for Classic Media, the company that owns all our childhood favorites like Lassie, Casper, George of the Jungle and various others. They engaged SOM to design their corporate website and after much debate we never made the site. This is another ode to unused homepage comps.
